Have a sneaky peek at our Latest Tutorial

Hello, lovely painters, this week's project is a nice, simple cross-section of a Shallot onion. Sometimes its nice to paint something not too vexing. We use very gentle washes for the pale onion flesh and very light sweeps of colour for the layer edges.

I've always loved the idea of putting together pages of ingredients. It seems to me to be a celebration of the foods that we love and the bounty of beautiful vegetables that the Earth provides.

Why don't you have a go at putting a recipe page together using the tips and techniques that I show and explain in my school? Vegetable colours are rich and enticing, and you will learn lots of wonderful brush skills as you paint along.

Wishing you fresh produce, a little rain and lots of sunshine.
And of course, plenty of time at the painting table.

Billy x
